Community Projects
I enjoy working in collaborative contexts, whether that be in anthology zine making, collaborative poetry, performances, improvisation, or community projects.
Below you will find some examples of collaborative and community works that have happened in the past and some that are ongoing.

I created the Colorado Poetry Calendar in March 2026 as a way to round up many of the overwhelmingly abundant poetry happenings in Colorado. The site features a calendar that community uploads events to, as well as articles and interviews about poetry in our state.
...a collection of collaborative poetry youth cellists composed and performed alongside the music for Protect Planet Earth: A Cello Concert Celebrating Nature. The concert was held at the Boulder Public Library on Earth Day, Sunday, April 21st, 2024. The full program for the event is included at the end of this booklet. All poems have been translated from English into Spanish by Ingrid Riquiac. Click through for a free download of the zine.
Collaborative Poetry Postcards began as a way to connect with writers of all calibers during Covid isolations and at open mic events. We play the game of Exquisite Corpse, among others, to create poetry together. It's one of my favorite games. Click through for various examples of this in the form of poetry postcards where I knit together contributed lines and add some of my art to share with participants.
The Cottonwood Collective, founded by Sandra Maresh Doe, included Lynn Messersmith, Sandra Maresh, Tameca L Coleman, Deb Carpenter-Nolting, Jamie Beel, Melissa Rosfeld, Elisabeth Kinsey, and Amber Zeta. We met for writing retreats once or twice a year in the Nebraska Sandhills
In 2007 at Metropolitan State College of Denver, Adam Speirs and I facilitated a poetry contest which culminated in this chapbook in honor of The Tuskegee Airman. We worked in collaboration with the Metro State History Club, the Black Student Alliance, MSCD student body and our surrounding communities which included our professors and Denver youth. You can download a free PDF copy of this zine from Gumroad.
